This 4th ICON LATERALS proceeding consisted of 27 reviewed papers under the following subthemes of (1) foreign language teaching and learning (2) innovation in language teaching and learning, (3) macrolinguistics: Pragmatics, Sociolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, Discourse Analysis, Forensic Linguistics, and Linguistic Landscapes, (4) Translation, and (5) Literature. Prior to this publication the selected papers have been reviewed by three different reviewers to provide more comprehensive and in-depth perspectives for the intended respected readers in the respected areas. The keynote speakers invited to the conference, Prof. Heather Zwicker from University of Queensland, Prof. Hsueh-Hua Chuang, Ph.D. from Institute of Education, Center for Teacher Education National Sun Yat-sen University, Prof. Ogasawara Hiroki from Kobe University, Ismatul Khasanah, S.Pd., M.Pd., M.Ed., Ph.D. from Universitas Brawijaya, Syariful Muttaqin, M.A., Ph.D. from Universitas Brawijaya, Han-Chin Liu, Ph.D. Associate Professor from Sun Yat-sen University, Yu-Hui Chang, Ph.D. Assistant Professor from National Sun Yat-sen University, and Asri Saraswati, Ph.D. from Universitas Indonesia, have provided some insightful ideas for enriching the multidisciplinary perspectives of the selected articles in this proceeding. We are also indebted to the support and the encouragement from Universitas Brawijaya and Faculty of Cultural Studies for proving all means to the success of the event. Finally, we are thankful for the excellent work from the organizing committee who have been working very hard, effectively and efficiently before, during, and after the conference. Corporate Governance and Whistleblowing


Book Description

Whistleblowing is often about disclosing wrongdoings by members of organisations to persons or organisations that may be able to effect action. Media would at times publish stories of whistleblowers who engage in ‘heroic’ acts of exposing wrongdoings at work, but the whistlebowers often face significant negative consequences of their whistleblowing efforts. This book examines effects of national and organisational cultures on the whistleblowing decisions of employees. The book provides empirical evidence of association between organisational culture and whistleblowing and there appears to be a lower likelihood of whistleblowing in organisations that focus more on the cultural dimensions of respect for people, innovation and stability. It also illustrates how remaining silent or blowing the whistle in response to observed wrongdoings affects employees’ key work-related attitudes. This book would interest those wish to gain better understanding of the relationship between culture and whistleblowing in organisations.

This is an open access book. The COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years has influenced how educational system works. Online learning became the primal policy taken by all institutions in the world to lower the risk of the virus spread. Despite the drawbacks of the online learning, teachers and students were accustomed with the distant learning through web meetings, Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other online learning platforms. In that time, topics under digital learning and education 5.0 were the main stakes in academic disseminations. This year some institutions start to conduct their teaching and learning process classically as before the pandemic, others are still continuing online and not few are in hybrid. This leaves a question: what learning reform should be made in post-pandemic era? This conference invites researchers, experts, teachers and students to discuss the coping solutions of the question. It is important for them to contribute to the understanding of re-imaging online education for better futures, innovative learning design, new skills for living and working in new times, global challenge of education, learning and teaching with blended learning, flipped learning, integrating life skills for students in the curriculum, developing educators for the future distance learning, humanities learning in the digital era, assessment and measurement in education, challenges and transformations in education, technology in teaching and learning, new learning and teaching models.
