Genealogy of the William Harris Latham Family of Thetford, Vermont


Book Description

William Harris Latham (1788-1868); son of Arthur Latham (1759-1843); grew up in Lyme, N.H. (captain of volunteers 1812, selectman in 1814); about 1819 he moved to Thetford, Vermont, and with his brother-in-law Thomas Kendrick ran branches of his fathers store on Thetford Hill and in North Thetford and South Strafford; he married Azuba Jenks in 1809; he was an early trustee of Thetford Academy, and served as selectman and town treasurer; in 1827, shortly after a bridge across the Connecticut led to development in North Thetford, he moved to a house outside the village, which his father had bought in 1802; until his death in 1868, he farmed and ran a store across the road from his house.

He married Elizabeth Masters Lockwood in 1638. The Bible records contain information on the Thomas S. Latham (1813-1871) family of Washington County, North Carolina.
