Len's Lines

Book Description

The ancient and honorable sport of angling is what Lens Lines is all about. Fishing with its roots deep in the past and its traditions continuing to the present, provides us with a constant source of challenging stories. We hope you will find them interesting, and maybe even amusing at times. It is a real honor to write for this newspaper again, after some ten years since the last Lens Lines column. During that time I was taking care of my wife on a 24/7 basis, operating the farm, and continuing the wholesale fishing tackle business. It has been six months since she went home to be with the Lord and she said she would be there waiting for me. I told her the rest of my days I would try to live a life helping others. Lens Lines format has changed on April 1, 2011. While the stories are still about fishing they are no longer about fishing for fish. Now the stories hopefully will appeal to bringing Christians of all denominations back to churches in our area. The churches in California are only seeing some three percent of the population in church on Sunday. It is our prayer God will speak to you and join us in the church of your choice. If you want to reach me my address is [email protected]. Story ideas are most welcome as we share Gods Good news.

Modern Lens Antennas for Communications Engineering

Book Description

The aim of this book is to present the modern design principles and analysis of lens antennas. It gives graduates and RF/Microwave professionals the design insights in order to make full use of lens antennas. Why do we want to write a book in lens antennas? Because this topic has not been thoroughly publicized, its importance is underestimated. As antennas play a key role in communication systems, recent development in wireless communications would indeed benefit from the characteristics of lens antennas: low profile, and low cost etc. The major advantages of lens antennas are narrow beamwidth, high gain, low sidelobes and low noise temperature. Their structures can be more compact and weigh less than horn antennas and parabolic antennas. Lens antennas with their quasi-optical characteristics, also have low loss, particularly at near millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths where they have particular advantages. This book systematically conducts advanced and up-to-date treatment of lens antennas.

A Test of Lens Resolution for the Photographer

Book Description

This Circular provides the photographer with a set of charts by which the resolving power of a photographic lens may be numerically measured with respect to a definite scale of values. A detailed description is given of the procedure and technique to be followed in order that comparable values may be obtained by different observers. The test provides an objective method of testing a photographic lens.

Ophthalmic Lenses and Prisms

Book Description

Contact Lenses

Book Description

The Basic Bookshelf for Eyecare Professionals is a series that provides fundamental and advanced material with a clinical approach to clinicians and students. A special effort was made to include information needed for the certification exams in ophthalmic and optometric assisting, as well as for surgical assistants, opticians, plus low vision, and contact lens examiners. Perfect for the optometric and ophthalmic tech, this well-illustrated text includes detailed how-to's that will make contact lens fitting and patient education easy. The author starts with ocular anatomy and how it is affected by contact lens wear. Other topics include lens design and materials, patient selection and examination procedures, and fitting of both soft and rigid lenses (including astigmatic designs). Information on patient instruction, care of products, lens verification/modification, complications, and special fitting situations are also covered.

Transient Lens Synthesis

Book Description

This work covers the use of differential scaling for the synthesis of lenses which pass transient TEM waves without reflection, loss or distortion. The subject is also discussed in the context of differential-impendance-matching and transient-time conservation which extends the concepts to anisotropic media. Examples are given, which are useful in EMP simulations, pulse-power equipment, and transient (wide band) antennas in general.
