No apology is needed for writing such a biography. It would be inexcusable to leave the world in need of it. While it may not serve as well as the author desires in preserving an interest in Mr. Taylor's writings, and in presenting to the American people his most encouraging example, it will at least be a sincere tribute to Mr. Taylor's memory from the writer, who in foreign and inhospitable lands recieved from him most generous and patient assistance.
