Students of the new millennium meet a tough adversary when they go up against Mrs. Priscilla Bird, a veteran teacher practicing her craft in northern Alberta, Canada. She struggles with parents, students, and administrators during a time when self-entitlement rules. Mrs. Bird helps and confronts students with all types of problems. There is Greg, whose loyalty to his father is getting in the way of overcoming an addiction to drugs. Mary and Frank endure daily abuse at the hands of their peers, and their lives may even be in danger. Others at the school also are doing their best to help students navigate their way through a tough and confusing world. Mr. Lloyd, a counselor, is troubled that he cant seem to help Greg, but he somehow manages to keep other students in school who would otherwise slip through the cracks. Take a close, comical, and realistic look at a Catholic school system and discover why dedicated people at a revered institution dont always have all the answers in Hell Hounds of High School.

Ma'am is a story of an older woman who has lived a life of hard labor. She was a woman that not only worked hard, she also loved as well. Raised in poverty, married young with children did the only thing she knew, worked. Later in life, due to curcumstances that has happened to so many women, adopted five grandchildren. Later she discovered to her dismay, that while caring for children, all her life (siblings, her own children, later her own grandchildren). She had forgotten about her own personal life, needs and desires. While trying to ignore it, becomes clinically depressed. Youth had slipped away, time had forgotten her. Once a beautiful red head, and now merely a shell of her former self. Looking into the bathroom mirror one morning, she discovers the answer. All through her busy life, she held all the emotions in that a woman experiences. She had never talked to anyone before, but now in the privacy of her home, she could pour out all the pain and frustrations, that she had felt for so many years. Talking to the reflection in the mirror, and eventually finds peace of mind. Ive tried to describe how a woman would react under this stressful circumstances in which she finds herself. In trying to deal with her own personal life and still be responsible for the care of five grandchildren. I have written of a woman who is strong, life made her that way. She also has feet of clay. Ive tried to portray her as being very human, because we all are. In Maams story, she deals with the problems of aging, but at the same time, she sees humor in everyday happenings, and has the ability to laugh at herself as well with other people. The adventures of a woman, and Maam, are at times hilarious, but also truthful, but again, it is all part of lifes story. In my story of Maam, the woman has no name because she speaks for umpteen thousands of women all over the world. She also believes in her God, but the older she gets, the more issues she has. Maam is truthful about her triumphs and her failings as in all our lives, there are many.

Has your life ever flashed before you? Sumangali Morhall chased everything Western society taught her to pursue: material wealth, academic success, and even the perfect relationship, only to discover something deeply significant was still missing. A sudden near-death experience opened her eyes, and her life began anew. Left with nothing and nobody to rely on, her inner strength blossomed and her spiritual search began in earnest. Her journey led her to study meditation with Indian spiritual Master, Sri Chinmoy: a direction she could never have imagined. Sumangali reveals the arcane practice of learning from a contemporary Guru in lively detail, shedding light on misconceptions while remaining candid about her own initial doubts. Heartwarming, courageous, and beautifully crafted, this spiritual memoir follows a Western woman learning the ways of the East, and putting them into practice in her modern world: an ordinary person leading an extraordinary life. ,
