Love Is Stronger Than Pain

Book Description

In Love is Stronger than Pain, author Michael J. OBrien, Irenes son, offers a true account of a wife and mother whose faith and perseverance were heroic. She raised eight children, two of whom were invalids born with a rare skin disease needing her constant care. She coped with the tragic accidental death of her twenty year old son, the death of her beloved husband, a fire in the family home, and the death of her parents, all within a few years. Love is Stronger than Pain follows Irenes incredible journey as she learned to see the loving hand of God at work in every circumstance of her life. Her faith and endurance were tested beyond limits, yet she persisted in her trust in God. Its not very often that a book can reach into your heart and move you. Michaels intimate telling of his mother, Irenes life journey did just that. Through this story, I was reminded that the capacity to love grows through heartache and suffering; that true joy is experienced when we trust God one day at a time. Michaels story is a beautiful tribute to his mother, but greater than that, its a story of unconditional love. Jim Kelly, NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback

He told her he would be back and he was true to his word. When Marilyn realized that others did not share her perception of the spiritual plane, she kept her channeling abilities to herself and her family. This changed when, as a college student, she met writer, Holocaust survivor, and future Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel. He became her mentor and encouraged her to use her perception to help others. In Love Is Greater Than Pain, Marilyn shares her profound understanding of the afterlife. Today a renowned medium, Marilyn reveals the beauty in the transition from the physical to the spiritual plane, helping those who are dying, as well as those left behind. SUMMA THEOLOGICA

Book Description

This ebook is the best-known work of Thomas Aquinas (c.1225–1274). Although unfinished, the Summa is "one of the classics of the history of philosophy and one of the most influential works of Western literature." It is intended as an instructional guide for moderate theologians, and a compendium of all of the main theological teachings of the Catholic Church. It presents the reasoning for almost all points of Christian theology in the West. The Summa Theologica is divided into three parts, and each of these three parts contains numerous subdivisions. Part 1 deals primarily with God and comprises discussions of 119 questions concerning the existence and nature of God, the Creation, angels, the work of the six days of Creation, the essence and nature of man, and divine government. Part 2 deals with man and includes discussions of 303 questions concerning the purpose of man, habits, types of law, vices and virtues, prudence and justice, fortitude and temperance, graces, and the religious versus the secular life. Part 3 deals with Christ and comprises discussions of 90 questions concerning the Incarnation, the Sacraments, and the Resurrection. Some editions of the Summa Theologica include a Supplement comprising discussions of an additional 99 questions concerning a wide variety of loosely related issues such as excommunication, indulgences, confession, marriage, purgatory, and the relations of the saints toward the damned. Scholars believe that Rainaldo da Piperno, a friend of Aquinas, probably gathered the material in this supplement from a work that Aquinas had completed before he began working on the Summa Theologica.

In this book, Kreeft brings together 358 useful, everyday insights from Aquinas' masterpiece the Summa Theologiae.
