The Luis W. Alvarez papers include correspondence, research files, diaries, and notes relating to Alvarez's research as a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley, and as a research associate at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Projects documented include Alvarez's work as a member of the Manhattan Project, his studies of hyperon events in balloon-flown emulsions, his contributions to the Pyramid Project, and his research on bubble chambers. The collection includes multiple drafts of Alvarez's autobiography, Alvarez: Adventures of a Physicist, as well as correspondence and other materials relating to Alvarez's receipt of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1968.
