MENSTRUAL BLOOD and SEMEN, a Sorcery Manual

Book Description

Menstrual Blood....Venal Blood....Semen.....These materials were gathered from a transcript of a class presented by me, THE SORCERESS CAGLIASTRO. It is presented here now in this offering, expanded with additional materials and commentary. It is a transcript and flows as such... Let this class and the transcription here that arose from the opportunity to teach this material be the beginning of the powerful reminder that our biologicals belong to us - not to our doctors, the twisted human relationship with religion and dogma, not to our associates or spouses - to US.... Therefore we have a right and responsibility to utilize them to their greatest potential....Within these pages I have offered materials previously unpublished. Many have suggested that I should not publish these secrets. I feel that it is vital to offer students and practitioners of Sorcery the opportunity to have, and therefore use and experiment with all available knowledge. If I do not share the information - then what is the purpose of exploring and experimenting? This is the Science of Sorcery, Triggers and Responses, Biologicals and Focused Intentions, Magnetics and the expansion of potential....it would be remiss of me to keep it all to myself...THE SORCERESS CAGLIASTROBlood Sorceress, Necromancer in the hands of 9

Thicker Than Water

Book Description

Blood is more than a fluid solution of cells, platelets and plasma. It is a symbol for the most basic of human concerns--life, death and family find expression in rituals surrounding everything from menstruation to human sacrifice. Comprehensive in its scope and provocative in its argument, this book examines beliefs and rituals concerning blood in a range of regional and religious contexts throughout human history. Meyer reveals the origins of a wide range of blood rituals, from the earliest surviving human symbolism of fertility and the hunt, to the Jewish bris, and the clitoridectomies given to young girls in parts of Africa. The book also explores how cultural practices influence gene selection and makes a connection with the natural sciences by exploring how color perception influences the human proclivity to create blood symbols and rituals.

The Ritual Process

Book Description

In The Ritual Process: Structure and Anti-Structure, Victor Turner examines rituals of the Ndembu in Zambia and develops his now-famous concept of "Communitas." He characterizes it as an absolute inter-human relation beyond any form of structure. The Ritual Process has acquired the status of a small classic since these lectures were first published in 1969. Turner demonstrates how the analysis of ritual behavior and symbolism may be used as a key to understanding social structure and processes. He extends Van Gennep's notion of the "liminal phase" of rites of passage to a more general level, and applies it to gain understanding of a wide range of social phenomena. Once thought to be the "vestigial" organs of social conservatism, rituals are now seen as arenas in which social change may emerge and be absorbed into social practice. As Roger Abrahams writes in his foreword to the revised edition: "Turner argued from specific field data. His special eloquence resided in his ability to lay open a sub-Saharan African system of belief and practice in terms that took the reader beyond the exotic features of the group among whom he carried out his fieldwork, translating his experience into the terms of contemporary Western perceptions. Reflecting Turner's range of intellectual interests, the book emerged as exceptional and eccentric in many ways: yet it achieved its place within the intellectual world because it so successfully synthesized continental theory with the practices of ethnographic reports."

Speaking with Vampires

Book Description

During the colonial period, Africans told each other terrifying rumors that Africans who worked for white colonists captured unwary residents and took their blood. In colonial Tanganyika, for example, Africans were said to be captured by these agents of colonialism and hung upside down, their throats cut so their blood drained into huge buckets. In Kampala, the police were said to abduct Africans and keep them in pits, where their blood was sucked. Luise White presents and interprets vampire stories from East and Central Africa as a way of understanding the world as the storytellers did. Using gossip and rumor as historical sources in their own right, she assesses the place of such evidence, oral and written, in historical reconstruction. White conducted more than 130 interviews for this book and did research in Kenya, Uganda, and Zambia. In addition to presenting powerful, vivid stories that Africans told to describe colonial power, the book presents an original epistemological inquiry into the nature of historical truth and memory, and into their relationship to the writing of history.

They are addressed to priority target groups: parents, teachers, health workers, media, adolescent girls and boys, as well as being considered as invaluable tools for advocacy with the political and religious leaders in Member States.

Blood Magic

Book Description

Examining cultures as diverse as long-house dwellers in North Borneo, African farmers, Welsh housewives, and postindustrial American workers, this volume dramatically redefines the anthropological study of menstrual customs. It challenges the widespread image of a universal "menstrual taboo" as well as the common assumption of universal female subordination which underlies it. Contributing important new material and perspectives to our understanding of comparative gender politics and symbolism, it is of particular importance to those interested in anthropology, women's studies, religion, and comparative health systems.
