Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Midas

Book Description

Excerpt from Midas: An English Burletta in Two Acts, as Performed at the Theatres Royal The Burletta of Midas was written by Kane O'Hara, Esq. in three Acts, and so performed at Covent Garden in the year 1764; hut the burlesque in this humorous performance turning chiefly on heathen deities ridiculous enough in themselves, and too absurd even for burlesque, the aim of which is to turn great things to farce; the present mock opera was not altogether so successful at first as in many respects it deserved to be. Originally it was a first piece, but soon reduced to an afterpiece, and thereby greatly improved. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
