The Pronunciation is placed, where it belongs, at the beginning, but with due help may be better studied along with the earliest grammar lessons than in a body beforehand. The directions given are in tended to be simply helpful and approximate: only voice can teach voice. N o attempt, however, is made at phonetic transliteration, because none is believed to be helpful in elementary work.
