He was a descendant of Simon Rocheron (or Rochon) who was born 6 February 1836 in St. Cosme-le-Vair, Sarthe, France. Simon immigrated to America with his parents and settled in Quebec, Canada. Charles migrated to Mobile, Alabama ca. 1704 and married Henriette Colon ca. 1712. He became the patriarch of the Rochon families of the Gulf Coast, including the modern day states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
