In the beginning there's a huge high which leads to the harsh fall at the end. I think of this book more like an epic love story. This is my version of west side story in poetry form. Citizens were held hostage in their homes and most of the good guys have been defeated until Duke came to rescue them from despair. Scotlander deals with mature yet relatable themes such as love, despair, and hope- feelings everyone can relate to.
