As I go on in this life, a verse from Psalm 16 is my story: "You will show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy." That path has taken me on adventures wanted and unwanted, and led to dreams that came true and dreams that died along the way. That is my story so far. I've come to know that each of us is a story and how we tell our story makes a difference as we walk through this world. We all have broken pieces of ourselves that we've left along the path, but we can decide whether to pick them up and put them together in a new way and go on, or we can go on with the broken pieces hurting us with every step. That's our choice, and with the help of God and companions along the way, the grace and fullness of healing and joy can come.

The series of memoirs recalled and compiled by Carolyn Gill Davis (Baird/Jackson) spans seventy years. And although much of her character was formed by the people, places, things, and images of childhood, other stumbling blocks also helped to fortify her beliefs Her book, The Fall of My Beginning, falls naturally into three parts: While I Learned to Know, When I Thought I Knew, and Then I Learned I Didnt Know. This is not a prescribed autobiography. Instead her book incorporates her feelings, impressions, reactions at many varied times, in many varied places. Emotions are succinctly expressed as poetry and letters to her deceased mother, the guiding force in her life. The poems range from the awesome wonder and compelling beauty she experienced, in her first formative years in Indiana, her bold and daring years in California, and finally back home again in Indiana. The reader will find no one major tragedy, but a series that is familiar enough to provide reader identification, and empathy. Well-preserved and cherished family photographs, a few blurred by age, have a mission to make the reader sense the family pride and loyalty. In the end, she feels gratitude for her life, as varied and as up-and-down as could be. Even her mother, in Heaven, knows now that all is well. Ms Davis has her mothers letter as a testimony. How fitting a closing to a special book. Carolyn Gill Davis (Baird/Jackson), Author

One Man In His Time: A Memoir is an account of a full life which includes Prentisss participation in both national and local politics at a high level and his friendship with major figures including Sen. George McGovern and many others. He had two meetings with Gov. Jimmy Carter during his presidential campaigns, and he was a guest in the Reagan White House to receive a major medal. Other portions of his memoir describe, mostly in anecdotal accounts, his extensive work with troubled teenagers sent to his program by the Orange County Florida Juvenile Court. He was also a teacher and administrator at both the secondary (Florida Military School) and college (Valencia College in Orlando) levels of education. He reached many high goals in his life despite having a troubled early adolescence which he describes in detail. His Air Force experience as an Intelligence Officer was also one of high adventure. Prentiss has described himself psychologically as a seeker of high sensation. This is borne out in his memoir including his choice to be a Volunteer Fireman and his Air Force close calls. Much of his life is told in the details of his life and times. A reader will have a better feel for the years between 1932 and the present after reading this Memoir.

The tell-all memoir of Lunden Roberts's tumultuous relationship with Hunter Biden. He was sitting there wearing nothing but parrot boxer briefs, organizing his pipes on his Rosemont Seneca desk. I was sitting in Barack Obama's actual chair from the Senate floor. I took another look at Hunter - this kind, intense, and startlingly transparent man - and thought, "this is definitely a guy I want to get to know better.” That was the first time Lunden Roberts met Hunter Biden. She had moved to DC from Arkansas in an impulsive decision to apply for a grad program. Hunter radiated the “live-for-the-moment” energy she sought. What followed from that first meeting was a wild journey that would come to define Lunden’s young life in ways she never could have anticipated. Out of the Shadows chronicles that rollercoaster ride of a relationship, touching on the drug cook working in Rosemont Seneca's kitchen, strip clubs where Hunter might try the pole himself, protecting him from would-be terrorists in New York City, the night she grabbed two guns and was certain she would have to fatally shoot a crazed MMA fighter, and dozens of other stories that make the laptop debacle seem routine. Lunden is finally ready to step into the light and tell her story. In her brave and honest memoir, she recounts the chaos, the broken trust, and ultimately the incredible love she found mothering and protecting the long-unacknowledged grandchild of the sitting President of the United States.
