Revive! the Oracles of God

Book Description

I believe that the next revival will come on a personal level for everyone who will pick up his or her bible daily to read, study, and meditate. Engage in personal times of prayer day and night; move from selfish Christianity to the place of personal service of others and the will and purpose of the Lord. Throughout the Bible, we see the Lord moved in the situation of his people, when they return to the ordinances of His word for guidance, in correction of their ways, or even for a new beginning, when they have engaged God in prayer and when they have stepped out to do his will. I believe that these three constants of our Christian faith also double as oracles of God, because in them the power of God is made alive; divine answers, messages, and burdens are granted to those who will diligently ask, seek, and knock. I believe that these three are oracles in their individual standings, but never to be practiced individually. Rather, when all three are embraced as a lifestyle, there will be a threefold release of the power of God. Revival will break forth within individuals and hence the entire body of Christ. This book is a holy cry for the people of God to avail themselves of these one-on-one connections with the almighty: Through his oracles.

Lively Oracles of God

Book Description

This book reexamines what we often take for granted: how Scripture is presented to worshipers; how it is heard, especially by those with little experience of the life of the church; Scripture’s role in mediating the great narratives of incarnation and redemption at the high points of the year; where Scripture meets people in ritual transition; how the Bible itself provides the language of much public prayer. Contributors also consider how the relationship between Scripture and liturgy is tested by new priorities—the climate crisis, the inclusion and protection of children, the recognition and honoring of those who find themselves on the margins of the church, and the significance of gender and identity in all areas of the church’s life. This book does not offer definitive statements. It is an invitation to a wide audience to engage in new conversations with their practice of worship.

The Holiness of God

Book Description

Central to God’s character is the quality of holiness. Yet, even so, most people are hard-pressed to define what God’s holiness precisely is. Many preachers today avoid the topic altogether because people today don’t quite know what to do with words like “awe” or “fear.” R. C. Sproul, in this classic work, puts the holiness of God in its proper and central place in the Christian life. He paints an awe-inspiring vision of God that encourages Christian to become holy just as God is holy. Once you encounter the holiness of God, your life will never be the same.
