This is an open access book. CISOC’2022 – The 2022 International Conference on International Studies in Social Sciences and Humanities, invites the entire scientific, academic and professional community to present their contributions, which can be written in French, English, Spanish or Portuguese. All papers (full articles) will be submitted to a “double-blind review” by at least two members of the Scientific Committee, based on relevance, originality, importance and clarity. Pensar la interculturalidad: una invitación desde Abya-Yala / América Latina

El libro concluye con una tesis llamativa: el no-teísmo viene a se el último paso, la estación de términos hacia la que la historia religiosa -la occidental al menos- parece caminar: desde el politeísmo, el henoteísmo, el monoteísmo pasando por la ilustración europea y el conflicto cristianismo/ateísmo…para desembocar en el no-teísmo, como la resolución del conflicto y la superación de los malentendidos seculares entre el cristianismo y la modernidad. Los dos -cristianismo y ateísmo- tenían razón, la ración parcial de unas posiciones, que ahora, a la altura de estos tiempos, vemos que los dos deben rectificar. Ya la Gaudium et spes (19-22) modificó parcialmente la actitud oficial de la Iglesia católica hacia el ateísmo; Lenaers se atreve a decir que hay que ir todavía bastante más allá para terminar de realizar plenamente la reconciliación con la modernidad.




Global Perspectives on the Politics of Multiculturalism in the 21st Century


Book Description

Multiculturalism is now seen by many of its critics as the source of intercultural and social tensions, fostering communal segregation and social conflicts. While the cultural diversity of contemporary societies has to be acknowledged as an empirical and demographic fact, whether multiculturalism as a policy offers an optimal conduit for intercultural understanding and social harmony has become increasingly a matter of polarised public debate. This book examines the contested philosophical foundations of multiculturalism and its, often controversial, applications in the context of migrant societies. It also explores the current theoretical debates about the extent to which multiculturalism, and related conceptual constructs, can account for the various ethical challenges and policy dilemmas surrounding the management of cultural diversity in our contemporary societies. The authors consider common conceptual and empirical features from a transnational perspective through analysis of the case studies of Australia, Canada, Columbia, Germany, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Uruguay. Pensar la docencia desde la complejidad educativa. Esta obra reúne una serie de capítulos en los que se abordan temáticas relacionadas con la educación superior desde una mirada académica, destacándose como premisas el pensamiento complejo, las TIC, así como el trabajo estratégico que desempeña el docente como facilitador de procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje a nivel universitario. Para ello, se toma como contexto la llamada «sociedad de la información y el conocimiento», en donde se ha definido una nueva ordenanza global que deviene en marco de referencia para entender los procesos de transformación que se les requieren a las universidades, en términos de políticas educativas, para la innovación de su currículo, los modelos educativos, como la transformación de las prácticas pedagógicas de sus académicos. Intercultural Studies from Southern Chile

This book presents a multidisciplinary overview of a little known interethnic conflict in the southernmost part of the Americas: the tensions between the Mapuche indigenous people and the settlers of European descent in the Araucania region, in southern Chile. Politically autonomous during the colonial period, the Mapuche had their land confiscated, their population decimated and the survivors displaced and relocated as marginalized and poor peasants by Chilean white settlers at the end of the nineteenth century, when Araucania was transformed in a multi-ethnic region marked by numerous tensions between the marginalized indigenous population and the dominant Chileans of European descent. This contributed volume presents a collection of papers which delve into some of the intercultural dilemmas posed by these complex interethnic relations. These papers were originally published in Spanish and French and provide a sample of the research activities of the Núcleo de Estudios Interétnicos e Interculturales (NEII) at the Universidad Católica de Temuco, in the capital of Araucania. The NEII research center brings together scholars from different fields: sociocultural anthropology, sociolinguistics, ethno-literature, intercultural education, intercultural philosophy, ethno-history and translation studies to produce innovative research in intercultural and interethnic relations. The chapters in this volume present a sample of this work, focusing on three main topics: The ambivalence between the inclusion and exclusion of indigenous peoples in processes of nation-building. The challenges posed by the incorporation of intercultural practices in the spheres of language, education and justice. The limitations of a functional notion of interculturality based on eurocentric thought and neoliberal economic rationality. Este volumen contiene una selección de artículos sobre la traducción literaria que fueron presentados durante la Conferencia Internacional «Traducción e Intercambio Cultural en la Época de la Globalización», celebrada en el mayo de 2006 en la Facultad de Filología de la Universidad de Barcelona. La Conferencia fue organizada por el grupo de investigación del CRET «Traducción e interculturalidad», de la Universidad de Barcelona. El volumen incluye una muestra representativa del múltiple y variado debate en las lenguas española, portuguesa, catalana e inglesa en torno a la traducción literaria en Europa y América (América Latina, EEUU, Canadá). Además, se abordan también otras cuestiones traductológicas de índole general.
