Posies Redefined

Book Description

Complexities of love, the chilling embrace of meaninglessness, the raw power of nature, the intoxicating dance of love, feminism's empowering call, the heavy ache of loss, and the haunting abyss that is today’s mental health, are all woven together in this art form called poetry. Posies Redefined is a second collection in the series where the author delves into yet another philosophical abyss of love, loss, lust, power, spirituality and a little more wordplay and imagery gripping readers with paradoxical truths, leaving them pondering their own existence. The natural world becomes both an enchanting backdrop and a formidable force in these verses, reminding us that amidst our modern cacophony, we are mere specks in a vast chasm, lurking beneath which is an ever-present darkness, creeping through each poem like a thief in the night. But through it all, a light of hope glimmers that emerges from the depths of introspection and makes us realise that all is not lost, a new day begins, the sun shines, and there is light. A modern-day writer bringing you face-to-face with the dilemmas of our modern world, she will leave you questioning with her mundane musings and inquisitive inklings.

Redefining Elizabethan Literature

Book Description

Redefining Elizabethan Literature examines the new definitions of literature and authorship that emerged in one of the most remarkable decades in English literary history, the 1590s. Georgia Brown analyses the period's obsession with shame as both a literary theme and a conscious authorial position. She explores the related obsession of this generation of authors with fragmentary and marginal forms of expression, such as the epyllion, paradoxical encomium, sonnet sequence, and complaint. Combining developments in literary theory with close readings of a wide range of Elizabethan texts, Brown casts light on the wholesale eroticisation of Elizabethan literary culture, the form and meaning of Englishness, the function of gender and sexuality in establishing literary authority, and the contexts of the works of Shakespeare, Marlowe, Spenser and Sidney. This study will be of great interest to scholars of Renaissance literature as well as cultural history and gender studies.
