In 2001 the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights established a Working Group on Indigenous Populations/ Communities (WGIP); in February of 2006 the working group undertook a mission to the Republic of Niger. This is the report from the mission. The report gives an account of meetings held with government authorities, civil society organizations, indigenous communities, and other stakeholders. It describes the situation of the indigenous populations in the Republic of Niger, and it makes recommendations to the government, civil society organizations, and the international community. The report is published in both English and French.
