Environmental Impact Analysis Process. Environmental Impact Statement for the Closure of Mather Air Force Base

Book Description

This statement assesses the potential environmental impacts from closure of Mather AFB, located near Sacramento, California. Closure would significantly reduce on-base activity and associated environmental impacts. Air emissions, wastewater effluents, and solids wastes generated would be substantially reduced from current levels and would result in beneficial impacts to the environment. Because Mather AFB's contribution to Sacramento County totals for these parameters is minor, the beneficial effects are also expected to be minor. Effects on ecological resources are expected to be minimal with mitigation as planned. The most significant impact from closure would be a reduction of about 90% in the area within the 65 dB noise contour reflecting full operation of Mather AFB, which could result in land use changes.
