Relationship P.O.T.H.O.L.E.S

Book Description

The pitfalls and lessons often ignored in relationships cause pain and bitterness to many. Love and relationships are meant to be enjoyed and not endured, as many find themselves in mini-prisons in the name of love. Love starts with loving oneself before being shared with the other partner. Don’t forget to love yourself and allow your partner to take you for granted.

Consultation for Organizational Change

Book Description

This volume is a joint publication in the Research in Management Consulting and Contemporary Trends in Organizational Change and Development series. This dual focus reflects the reality that consulting for organizational change is a special type of management consultation, a complex field of endeavor that requires a broad range of skills and competencies. To be truly effective, change-related consulting requires a unique client-consultant relationship, a special set of consulting skills, an expertise in human and organizational systems, and significant personal qualities. It is in high demand in a world full of change. Yet, we still know relatively little theoretically about this type of consulting and have relatively little empirical evidence about what actually works and why. As the contributors amply illustrate, the Organization Development (OD) field has a well developed set of frameworks, technologies, and models of change. Still we need to focus on and learn more about the role of the OD consultant as a special kind of change agent. A goal of this joint volume is to increase that specific body of knowledge and provide an illustration of much needed collaboration in bringing all possible resources to bear on our understanding of an increasingly critical and essential form of consulting.

Potholes in My Lawn

Book Description

Potholes in my lawn: "the book" finally... was inspired by the wonderful children I had the honor of producing 50 minute groups for, for the last five years of my life. The 50 minute therapeutic groups were supposed to be quick, brief and to the point, discussing the client's day to day feelings, but of course things like that get dull quickly for young troubled youth (behaviorally and emotionally) and for the child at heart therapist who's in charge of planning, running and illustrating the groups. Over the course of the last five years I have planned, implemented and conducted over 700 groups and some were beautiful, some confusing but all were fun and a learning experience. As time passed my understanding of a troubled youth's wants and needs became more understandable. Finally I understood rarely does a child want to discuss problems on a Monday morning, they would much rather talk about their weekend and how much fun it was or should have been, rarely does a child want to hug and greet a person whom he or she just met. I learned through the course of time, that yes they want the world to know that they have been hurt, betrayed, misunderstood, misguided, but that they still want love. They want to drive over and pass their potholes on the road to success. Over the last five years I've learned enough to write ten books or more on giving therapeutic groups alone, but instead I settled on giving you 182 of the best, most favorite and most needed groups for a complete school year (of an average 182 day school year), but the groups where designed to be used at any setting/place for the help and assistance with adolescents and teens. Many of the most prized groups I thought of keeping a secret from the rest of the world, but then thought if the groups were that much of a benefit for the CARE clients/children that maybe they could possibly aid and assist the other million plus troubled youth of the world and the facilitators that sometimes run out of ideas like I did on many occasions. The groups of "potholes in my lawn": were not only rated the best and most favorite from the clients, but through therapeutic observations of the 700 groups, the groups that were presented were the most effective in helping to change lives.

Citizen Relationship Management

Book Description

This study explores Customer Relationship Management (CRM) in government. Based on an interdisciplinary literature review and multiple-case study design, a model of Citizen Relationship Management (CiRM) is developed and discussed. The case studies explore the perceptions of CRM/CiRM by administrators, elected officials and consultants as well as its implementation and impact on the municipal level and in a multijurisdictional environment in the United States. Although the explorative part of the study focuses broadly on a theoretical conceptualization of CiRM, the immediate empirical referent of research are the 311 initiatives in the City of Baltimore, the City of Chicago, the City of New York and Miami-Dade County. Thus, the results help administrators and researchers to convey the idea and challenges of 311 well. The study shows that CRM is to a certain extent only partly able to make novel contributions to currently active reform movements in government. In addition, the study's findings support the idea that CiRM provides the means to a different kind of public participation.
