The Appendix, N o. 1, has been added chiefly for the purpose of enabling miners, and others engaged in sluicing operations or in the use of water for other purposes, to check the quantity of water supplied them, and it is hoped that the general arrangement of the whole work is such as to afford assistance, not only to the professional Hydraulic Engineer, but to those engaged in the use of the water supplied them.
