Excerpt from Soil Survey of the Redding Area, California Sir: A soil survey of the Redding area, California, was instituted in the summer of 1907 at the request of the Shasta County Board of Trade for the purpose of determining the extent and varieties of the soils and the possibilities of the further agricultural development of the area.
