Excerpt from Farquhar's Mid-Summer Catalogue, 1904 These, if planted in August or September, produce a large Crop the next Summer. Being grown in pots, they may be shipped to a distance and planted with almost no interruption to their growth. The earlier they are planted the larger the first season's crop will be. The plants may be set in beds of three rows one foot apart, and one foot distant in the rows, with a space of two and one-half feet between the outside rows of adjoining beds left for a pathway.
