DoD has initiated a Corrporate Information Management initiative -- an effort to improve operations & reduce costs by streamlining business processes, consolidating information systems, & standardizing & integrating data. This report focuses primarily on DoD's new materiel management strategy & the extent to which it will facilitate improvement of materiel management business processes & reduce costs associated with inventory, personnel, & inefficient legacy systems. Summarizes the problems DoD experienced with the former strategy & discusses concerns with recent changes.
