The fungus Sclerotinia has always been a fancy and interesting subject of research both for the mycologists and pathologists. More than 250 species of the fungus have been reported in different host plants all over the world that cause heavy economic losses. It was a challenge to discover weak links in the disease cycle to manage Sclerotinia diseases of large number of crops. For researchers and s- dents, it has been a matter of concern, how to access voluminous literature on Sclerotinia scattered in different journals, reviews, proceedings of symposia, workshops, books, abstracts etc. to get a comprehensive picture. With the pub- cation of book on ‘Sclerotinia’, it has now become quite clear that now only three species of Sclerotinia viz. , S. sclerotiorum, S. minor and S. trifoliorum are valid. The authors have made an excellent attempt to compile all the available infor- tion on various aspects of the fungus Sclerotinia. The information generated so far has been presented in different chapters. After introducing the subject various aspects viz. , the diseases, symptomatology, disease assessment, its distribution, economic importance, the pathogen, its taxonomy, nomenclature, reproduction, reproductive structures with fine details, variability, perpetuation, infection and pathogenesis, biochemical, molecular and physiological aspects of host-pathogen interaction, seed infection, disease cycle, epidemiology and forecasting, host resistance with sources of resistance, mechanism of resistance and other mana- ment strategies have been covered.

Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA), under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act and Regulations, is proposing full registration for the sale and use of Contans WG Biological Fungicide and the end-use product Contans WG, containing the technical grade active ingredient Coniothyrium minitans strain CON/M/91-08 (C. minitans strain CON/M/91-08), to control fungal diseases in a variety of field and greenhouses vegetables. This document describes the key points of the evaluation and provides detailed information on the human health, environmental and value assessments of Contans WG BIological Fungicide and Contans WG.--Includes text from document.

Trichoderma spp. are biotechnologically significant fungi, being widely used both in agriculture and industry. These microbes are also a potential drug source of clinical importance. In recent years, driven by advances in genetics and genomics, research on these fungi have opened new avenues for its varied applications. Divided into three sections, covering taxonomy and physiology, interactions with plants and applications and significance, this book also discusses topics that have seen rapid developments in the recent years. Various aspects of Trichoderma like molecular taxonomy, sexual and asexual developments, secondary metabolism, beneficial interactions with plants, applications as cell factories and harmful interactions with humans are discussed. This book, thus, hopes to be an essential ready reference for researchers, students and people form industry as well.

Whether they are called peppers, chiles, paprika, or ajis, plants in the genus Capsicum, are among the most important spice and vegetable commodities worldwide because they are used in so many different types of food. Like other crops, peppers are afflicted with diseases, disorders, and pests that can reduce fruit quality and yield.Compendium of Pepper Diseases provides a comprehensive presentation of the important pepper diseases of the world. With the help of 122 color photographs and thorough descriptions of pathogens, this valuable reference enables readers to easily identify diseases on the basis of symptoms and formulate field and laboratory diagnoses of diseases caused by bacteria, fungi, viruses, parasitic angiosperms, and nematodes.Readers will also learn about the geographical distribution and impact of each disease, control measures, and epidemiological aspects of diseases as well as gain knowledge on plant health problems associated with arthropods, nutritional deficiencies, herbicide injuries, and other abiotic causes. This compendium also includes sections discussing the botany of pepper, current production practices, and postharvest damage to pepper fruit.Edited and authored by 39 professionals with international expertise in pepper pathology in several unique production areas and in diverse areas of pathogen expertise, Compendium of Pepper Diseases will prove invaluable to growers, extension agents, county agents, crop production specialists, researchers, plant pathologists, horticulturists, agronomists, agribusiness professionals, educators, students and anyone interested in the diagnosis or management of diseases of pepper crops throughout the world. - Publisher.
