Supernatural Chronicles: The Cupids

Book Description

Evelyn Bowden, at nineteen, sacrificed herself for Tate Gallier. Her act inspired the gods to deem her immortal as a cupid. Now, she’s been assigned to apprentice with Andel Lambros, a 200 year-old heavenly archer that looks 24. The purpose of the cupids is easy enough for the newbie to understand, and to resent. But the significance of their work doesn’t have time to sink in when Evelyn is given her first assignment. Cupid elders have received a message and need their newest, least experienced, comrade-in-arms—Evelyn—to retrieve an arrow. That means she must release a mortal from an everlasting love. When she discovers the arrow is fastened to none other than her own love, Tate’s heart, Evelyn battles with letting him go. The century old war for love may be lost if Evelyn doesn’t gear up to save them all. Being a cupid takes more than a bow and some arrows. Evelyn is challenged to deliver her arrow, let go of her first love, and trust an ancient brooding cupid with her existence. Giving up her lost love’s arrow as an offering will be more painful than getting hit by a streetcar, and she knows how that feels since it’s what started the whole predicament. Will Evelyn be able to keep her covenant to her fellow cupids? Will she save them all or lose everything trying? *The Cupids is the eighth novella in the Supernatural Chronicles: New Orleans. The boxed set will be released in January 2016.

Book Description

Hi folks, I'm C.D. and if my writing sells you'll find out what C.D. stands for, because I put myself in the book and I don't come along as more than C.D. until a future book. Now I'm new at this writing business and before starting to write I was setting around one day, after retiring, and thinking, now what do I do with myself ? I could go back to work, but I was laid off from my last job and I really don't won't to, not for someone else anyway. Even if someone would hire me at 66 which is unlikely. Well, To make a long story a bit shorter. I racked my brain on what to do with myself and came up with writing then writing fiction, not much research in that, then came up with putting all my friends in it, whether alive or not with us any longer also family members most of which are pushing up daises ! which makes for good ghosts ! I do hope you buy it and enjoy it. If not maybe I'll go back to work after all. Yours truly C.D. P.S. I plan on giving most if not all of the money made by me on this to charity, or even forming a charity the book profits would go strait into, but of course thats to worry about after I sell some books. The Supernatural and Fantastic in Short Detective Fiction

Book Description

Although fantasy and supernatural literature have long and celebrated histories, many critics contend that the fantastic and the supernatural have no place in the logical, rational, world of the detective story. This book is the first extensive study of the fantastic in detective fiction and it explores the highly debated question of whether detective fiction and the fantastic can comfortably coexist. The "locked room" mystery--which often uses the fantastic as a red herring to eventually be debunked by reason and logic--has long been among the most popular subgenres of detective fiction. This book also explores stories featuring almost supernaturally gifted detectives, stories where the supernatural is truly encountered, and stories with ambiguous endings. Close to 500 detective stories from 1841 to 2000, in which the fantastic or supernatural plays a central role, are discussed and analyzed. Although not all the stories are judged to be successful as detective tales, in the great majority, the fantastic enlivens the tale and deepens the mystery without weakening the detective elements.
