Book Description
In Texas, a licensed master electrician can perform all electrical work; supervise an electrician; verify compliance with on-the-job training requirements for issuance of a master electrician license and a journeyman electrician license. He may also serve as a master or record for an electrical sign contractor. A journeyman electrician, on the other hand, has to work under the direct supervision of a master electrician. The Electrical Safety and Licensing Advisory Board administers all the relevant licensing issues. In the US, almost all technical exams on electrical works are based on the NEC. Chapter 1305.101(a)(2) of the Texas Electrical Safety and Licensing Act requires that the NEC be adopted as the electrical code for Texas. The NEC 2011 is therefore the "minimum standard" for all electrical work in Texas as covered by the Act. Municipalities do have the authority to make local amendments to the 2011 NEC as needed.
