The Brightest Day

Book Description

The Brightest Day is centrally about life, love, sex and death in the context modernity. It has aspirations toward freedom and relates to every human being universally. The idea of democracy is limited in scope, concern s for modern man should always be freedom of culture and individuality. Th e exploitation of any human being strikes me as abhorrent. Th e will to power must exist but channeled into artistic forms. These poems represent a challenge to society. As an artist I wish to explore social issues thoroughly. As a great admirer of poetry this book s only impact can be that of an immoderate artist. Christian ideals, economic tyranny. Th e aim of my poetry is to provoke awareness of the human condition.

The Bright Day

Book Description

On the night Neil Moray is returned as Independent MP for the seaside town of Scotney, William Lomax, editor of the local paper, has a visit from a woman with an unsavoury tale to tell about Moray's campaign manager, Rodney Cope. Much has been made of Moray's personal integrity and his determination to clean up Scotney, and it seems plain that the woman, estranged wife of the unsuccessful Conservative candidate, is unbalanced. Nonetheless Lomax takes a hard look at the set-up in Moray's camp. The development of the West Front is a major issue and a suspicion persists that Cope may have a special interest in it . . . Then the woman who started it all is found dead. While sunbathers luxuriate in a heat wave and children queue for donkey rides on the sands, Cope, Moray and Lomax move towards a violent climax, set among police sharpshooters, television cameras and holidaymakers.

Darkest Night Brightest Day

Book Description

Start a new Easter season tradition with your family by reading this beautifully illustrated "upside-down" book from Marty Machowski that includes fourteen Bible stories. The first side, Darkest Night, has seven stories that recount the events of Passion week ending with Christ's crucifixion and burial. Flip the book over and continue by reading Brightest Day with seven more stories that progress from Christ’s resurrection through Pentecost. Children are sure to remember the contrast between the darkness at the death of our Lord and the light-filled events from Christ’s resurrection onward. Machowski weaves each Gospel account together into one harmonized story and provides questions for family discussion. Focusing on the main events the week of the crucifixion, Darkest Night is designed for families to read one story each day, beginning on Palm Sunday. Once the week ends, they will start with Brightest Day on Easter Sunday. The stories for the week following Easter recount appearances of Jesus after the resurrection, his ascension, and Pentecost. This beautiful hardback book, illustrated by Phil Shorr, is sure to become a treasured favorite of the family to be used every Easter as a reminder of how God turned the darkest night into the brightest day.
