Legacy for the Fraser : a Final Report on the Fraser River Action Plan

Book Description

The six-year Fraser River Action Plan, which ended in March 1997, encompassed a broad range of activities intended to achieve three main objectives: to work with partners and stakeholders to manage the Fraser River basin in a sustainable manner; to improve fish and wildlife productivity in the basin; and to clean up pollution. This report reviews the projects and initiatives executed by the Dept. of Fisheries and Oceans under the Plan, focusing on rebuilding salmon stocks and protecting fish habitat. Sections of the report cover the people and partnerships involved, tools and information used, and Fraser basin restoration projects, with reviews of specific projects in such areas as watershed management, stream stewardship, habitat restoration, Aboriginal fisheries, stock estimation and modelling, water quality monitoring, and public awareness.
