The Gentle Giant and the Beauty Queen

Book Description

The following story that I’m going to share is true. It illuminates the impossible that can become possible when there is: • A loving and accepting family • Mother’s and Grandmother’s prayers • Strong presence of the Judeo Christian work ethic • Attitudes of Victory vs. Victimhood This is a story of love and the tragedy of others that made for this Developmentally Disabled couple’s independence. You’ll observe contrasting family attitudes and the unbelievable circumstances in others’ lives that are beyond comprehension. We’ll walk through some lives to celebrate their victories through love and determination. You’ll cheer the contentment, happiness, and love of this special couple. But you’ll also be challenged as we see our own evaluations and prejudging of things and people that are different. This book makes all of us look at ourselves and question our own tolerance levels in many areas of life. By the end of this story, most of you living in or visiting Steubenville, Ohio will think a little differently and smile as you see David (7’ tall) and Ruthy (5’ tall) sauntering down the sidewalk, holding hands as always. You’ll be inspired by secrets of triumph over odds and you’ll feel the small victories and blessings that we should celebrate every day. My hope is that your experience in reading this book will be as enjoyable as the laughs and tears I’ve experienced as I interviewed and met the remarkable characters that you’re about to meet in this true saga. We may even have to ask, “Do we love enough? Do we have what it takes to make lemonade out of our lemons?”

PEGGY'S GIANT - The Adventures of Peggy and her Friendly Giant

Book Description

Peggy’s party was a quiet affair. Most of her friends had gone down with Whooping Cough and couldn’t make it. So she, Mum and nanny held a very little, private party, which was in some ways better than the manic affair they had last year with all her friends running riot. After all the tidying up was done, one cracker remained un-pulled. Mum and nanny both said it was Peggy’s special birthday treat. She took it and rattled it and shook it and tried guessing what it was. Nanny was becoming exasperated and said “Oh for heaven’s sake, just open it will you!” Peggy gave the cracker an almighty pull and out flew the toy, right across the room and under the cupboard. Peggy dashed across the room and squeezed as far under the cupboard as he could. She saw it was a bright, shiny sparkly ring and she squealed with delight. “Come on out you come,” said nanny dragging her out by the ankles. “Oh what a mess you are,” fluffed nanny as she dusted off the cobwebs with a paper napkin. The ring was bright and golden and had a big emerald green stone set into it. She tried it on all her fingers but it would only fit her thumb. She slipped it on and arms raised, playfully cried out “I wish I were all grown up!” “I’m ready whenever you are,” said a deep voice behind her. Peggy screamed and turned round quickly, and then nearly jumped out of her skin with astonishment. For behind her, on the other side of the table, stood a Giant! What happened next you ask? Well, you’ll just have to download this book and join Peggy and her Giant on their many adventures. ================ KEYWORDS/TAGS: Peggy, Giant, Fairy tale, Nannie, nanny, Mother, Mayor, lovely, suddenly, turn, Fairy, green, nursery, door, Noah, tea, party, fun, mothers with children, expectant mothers, pregnant women, bedtime story, parents, adventure, childrens story, fable, brown, flew, fly, exciting, yellow, green, ring, wishes, Fairies, Dragon, Pixies, garden, sweets, thumb, village, shout, Mazing, maze, wings, sugar, sweet, frightened, picture, photo, afraid, cross, Ogres, wood, disappear
