"The Rescue of the Princess Winsome: A Fairy Play for Old and Young" by Annie F. Johnston is a play that opens in the Witch's Orchard. Where the captive Prince and Princess are dragged to an Ogre's tower. At his command, the Witch brews a spell to change the prince into a dog. In front of the orchard, the King and Queen mourn their loss. However, the princess' Godmother promises to help and sends a knight on a quest to find the South Wind's silver flute with which to summon the Fairies to undo the Ogre's wickedness.
