Chedabucto Bay 1992, Shoreline Oil Conditions Survey

Book Description

Description of the activities related to and a summary of the information generated by a field survey carried out in Chedabucto Bay, Nova Scotia from June-September 1992 to locate any residual oil on the shores of the bay. The grounding of the tanker Arrow in February 1970 resulted in a large release of Bunker C fuel oil that was stranded over an estimated 305 km of shoreline in the Chedabucto Bay area. A subsequent spill from the tanker Kurdistan in March 1979 affected some eastern sections of the study area, but, unless otherwise stated, the residual oil described in the report is considered to have come from the Arrow.

Fate and Effects of Petroleum Hydrocarbons in Marine Ecosystems and Organisms

Book Description

Fate and Effects of Petroleum Hydrocarbons in Marine Organisms and Ecosystems is a collection of papers presented at the international symposium by the same title, held at the Olympic Hotel in Seattle, Washington on November 10-12, 1976. This book is organized into three parts encompassing 46 chapters. Part I deals with the inputs and physical transport processes influencing the distribution and composition of petroleum hydrocarbons in marine systems. Part II discusses the bioaccumulation and metabolism of hydrocarbons by marine organisms.
