Book Description

The Russians established Fort Ross to acquire otter pelts and also farmed. In 1824. Russia signed a treaty with England to make no settlement in North America south of 54 degrees 40 minutes north latitude, the southern boundary of Russia's Alaska territory. Russia soon lost interest in California and withdrew from Fort Ross. Included an extensive extract from Augustus von Kotzebue.
