Sand Trap

Book Description

In August of 1981 two Libyan jets were shot down over the Mediterranean. In this story leading up to that event were two successful hijackings, a failed hijacking and a rapidly planned hostage rescue mission. Lee Thomas is the agent who is tasked with the planning and execution of the mission. A group of United States Marines, Special Air Service (SAS) troopers, French Foreign Legionnaires, with support from the United States Navy follow a mission leader who seems to be a Special Forces captain. These people go into harm's way to recover the hostages and destroy the evidence of the hijackings before the world ever finds out they happened. This is the story of the hostage rescue mission that lead to that aerial combat over the Mediterranean. A hostage rescue mission that officially "never happened." --
