The Two Bullies

Book Description

"What happens with Ni-ou, the self-proclaimed "strongest fellow in Japan" rows to China to challenge his counter part, Dokkoi? Not what you'd expect. These two enormous bullies are big on brawn but low on bravery--and brains! Soon Ni-oi is hiding in the bathroom after hearing Dokkoi's thunderous footsteps. And Dokkoi is duped by the false show of Ni-oi's strength. Before they know ti, both bullies are back safe at home, grateful that they never had to fight. Eve since that day, when people in China lift up something heavy, they say, "Ni-ou!" And in Japan they say, "Dokkoi-sho!" The short accessible text makes this folktale perfect for younger children. With hilarious illustrations by an award-winning Japanese artist and the silly antics of two goofy bullies, this story proves that bigger isn't necessarily better. "

Bullies and Saints

Book Description

Is the world better off without Christianity? Combining narrative with keen critique of contemporary debates, author and historian John Dickson gives an honest account of 2,000 years of Christian history that helps us understand what Christianity is and what it's meant to be. To say that the Christian Church has an "image problem" doesn't quite capture it. From the Crusades and the Inquisition to the racism and abuse present in today's Church--both in Catholic and Protestant traditions--the institution that Christ established on earth has a lot to answer for. But the Church has also had moments throughout history when it has been in tune with Jesus' teachings--from the rise of charity to the invention of hospitals. For defenders of the faith, it's important to be able to recognize the good and bad in the church's history and be inspired to live aligned with Christ. For skeptics, this book is a thought-provoking introduction to the idea that Christianity is, despite all, an essential foundation of our civilization. Bullies and Saints will take you on a big-picture journey from the Sermon on the Mount to the modern church: Giving contextual accounts of infamous chapters of Christian history, such as the Crusades, and acknowledging their darkness. Outlining the great movements of the faith and defending its heroes and saints, some of whom are not commonly recognized. Examining the Church beside the teachings and life of Jesus and how it has succeeded in its mission to imitate Christ.

Bullied Boy 2: Lots of Bullies in High School

Book Description

Word Count: Over 37,500+ One of the reasons I decided to write this series is because of the rampant bullying and mistreatment which goes on day to day in our schools. I created an interesting character to help highlight and give a different perspective to some of these situations. I will try to highlight the insensitiveness and the often two-faced way in which individuals look at things and even authority figures like school administrators. The administration in a school is not unlike the leadership in companies. Every day we see people doing things or saying things that hurt others. Do you take the easier road of ignoring things and not getting involved? When someone gets hurt or feels like an outcast or feels like the world is out to get them, do you have any responsibility? Many of the situations portrayed are based on real incidents in real schools but presented in a fictional manner to try to raise awareness and trigger discussion. If you find yourself asking questions and considering changes in your own attitudes or behavior, then pass the book on to others in the hope it will help them also. The main character Drew is a male whose body experienced gynecomastia which resulted in his growing breasts. He hid these breasts for a while. With the help of a friend named Lacy, he is now embracing his breasts and cross-dressing to go to school looking like a girl. No one knows this except Lacy, his parents, and his doctors. This gives Drew a unique perspective on many of the situations he encounters. Finally, there are inklings of romance between Drew and his friend Lacy. The author hopes that the reader will embrace the key characters and want to know what happens next. Like many other stories, the author tries to create likable main characters who care about others. Given the ages of the characters, the story does not involve explicit sex. Young adult readers should be comfortable reading this book. Enjoy Daring Diane Disclaimer This story is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events, locales, and incidents are either the products of the author's imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.
