The Unionist Worker's Handbook (Classic Reprint)

Book Description

Excerpt from The Unionist Worker's Handbook There are questions upon which a nation must decide or, as the price of indecision, imperil its safety and welfare. The Unionist Workers' Handbook discusses such questions from a party standpoint in the light of recent events and may seem, by this controversial treatment, only to challenge stock retorts from the other side yet its simple sincerity deserves a better hearing and less voluble reply. The Campaign Guide

Book Description

Excerpt from The Campaign Guide: An Election Handbook for Unionist Speakers This new edition of the Campaign Guide has been prepared at the request of the Central Conservative Office, London, and the Council of the Scottish National Union, in view of the election campaign which is believed to be rapidly approaching. The work has been prepared by Scotsman in Scotland, and pro bably some subjects of interest to Englishmen may have been omitted or imperfectly handled, whilst the references and illustrations are doubtless fuore Scottish in colour than if the work had been compiled in England. It is believed, however, that the greater part of the work is likely to be as useful to speakers on the south as to those on the north of the Tweed. According to the original plan, the Campaign Guide was divided into two parts - Part I. Unionist Work, and Part II. Election Problems. In the present edition it was necessary to in troduce a third part, dealing with the policy of the present Government; and, as each of the three parts would then have had an Irish Chapter, it was thought more convenient to make a fourth part, in which the three chapters dealing with Ireland could be included together. Part I. Unionist Work, has been left substantially in its old form and order; Part II. Ire land, contains a new Chapter on Ireland under Separatist Government, and the Chapter on Home Rule has been recast and greatly amplified; Part III. Gladstonian Government, is entirely new; Part IV. Election Problems, has been brought up to date and considerably ampiified As the volume has been prepared for a Conservative organisa tion, the political tcpics of the day have been treated from the standpoint of the Conservative party. The next general election. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
