George and Catharine (Hutton) Thomasson lived in London at the time of the British Civil War, and the Commonwealth. They were intimate friends of John Milton. George was a well-known book seller, and apprentice to Catharine's uncle, Henry Fetherstone. George traveled Europe to gather collections of books that formed the scholastic libraries of the British Museum, the Bodleian at Oxford, and the Oriental Collection at Cambridge. George and Catharine's children were Elizabeth, Katherine, Grace, Bridget, Francis, John, Edward, Henry, (Rev.) George, and Thomas. Thomas Thomasson went to Virginia ca. 1677 and died there after 1730. The exact date of his death is not known; nor the name of his wife whom he married in Virginia. He had three sons; two were Samuel, born 13 Dec 1691 and George, born 10 Nov 1703. This history traces their ancestors and descendants from 1677-1990. Descendants also lived in British Columbia (Canada), Venezuela, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, and West Virginia.
