TOWARD ZERO WASTE CATS II

Book Description

Have you seen those videos showing cats using human toilets? Are you tempted to try those human toilet training kits for cats? Don't mess up with your cat: read this book first! People keep buying expensive litter products, but cat toilet training kits, also called cat toilet trainers or cat toilet training systems, have been widely available for a few years now…Why? Toilet training cats is possible. The toilet trained cats you see in videos are real, but for each one who succeeded, a lot failed. The sad truth is that many of those who failed became unclean. Do you wonder what are your real chances of succeeding in toilet training your cats? Imagine you are seeing videos of successful toilet-trained cats. Then, you read reviews about cat toilet training kits saying it works. If you try a cat toilet training system and fail, wouldn’t you feel bad about it? Wouldn’t you assume there is something you did wrong? Or worst; you might assume there is something wrong with your cat. Would you be likely to talk about cat toilet training kits and write a review? On the other hand, what will happen if you succeed? The cat toilet trainer method is so difficult, wouldn’t you feel entitled to be proud? Wouldn’t you gladly talk about the cat toilet training system everywhere and write a positive review? Then what does the average reviews rating really means? To succeed, you need knowledge of cats’ elimination behavior and learning abilities. With this book, you will get to know: • All about cats’ elimination behavior. • What cats need to like and adopt an elimination place. • Cats’ various ways of learning. • A unique method to guide your cat where you want. • How to prevent ending up with accidents or unclean cats. • How to fabricate a water litter and train your cat to use it (this is recommended when your toilet room is too busy or too noisy for human toilet training your cat). • A step-by-step new exclusive cat toilet training method. A word from the author Claude Bois: One evening while I was watching cat videos on YouTube, I wound up watching some about cats being toilet trained. What I saw made me worry that cat owners would try this without the necessary information to succeed, which would inevitably produce unclean cats. I then searched for books on the subject. What I found got me even more concerned. Knowing that uncleanliness is the main reason for cats being abandoned, I felt the urge to intervene. What bothers me is that the procedure they use in books and videos still has the same flaws as the one I first used, back in the eighties. Besides, cat toilet training kits are inconvenient and produce a new set of problems. What I present in TOWARD ZERO WASTE CATS II is a new improved method: • I discuss everything to consider to reduce the risk of problems. • I present specific strategies to prevent inappropriate elimination. • I explain my unique method to ensure that the cat recognizes the toilet as "the right place to go." • I describe my strategy to guide the cat to place himself properly on the seat. • I removed unnecessary, error-prone steps other methods have. • I reorder the steps so that when he moves to the real toilet, the cat knows how to pee and poo right into the bowl without making any accidents on the seat. • There is no cat toilet training kit to remove from the seat and reinstall to allow people to use the toilet. • No litter grain will ever fall into the toilet bowl. • My method allows for a much smoother progression in learning than any of the cat toilet training systems available. The temporary use of a water litter is an exclusive part of my toilet training method and contributes to its advantages over other methods. I explain how you can assemble a water litter at a low cost. I recommend the permanent use of water litter if your bathroom is a crowded or noisy place. The maintenance cost of a water litter is nearly zero, and cleaning is extremely simple. Like three other books in this collection (Understanding and Guiding Cats’ Elimination Behaviors, Toward Zero Waste Cats I, Litter Free), a large part of TOWARD ZERO WASTE CATS II is about cats' elimination behavior, needs, and learning capacity. There is also an important section on various techniques I have developed to properly guide cats when introducing changes in their litter habits. I consider this information so fundamental that I ask you not to buy this book unless you agree to read those sections before you start a transition toward a water litter and/or the human toilet. I hope you agree there is no point in trying to change your cat's litter habits if you are not willing, first and foremost, to comply with what your cat needs to be satisfied and stay clean. On the other hand, should you take the time to understand the rules, you'll realize how wide the possibilities are. You'll figure it's just a little about the elimination place itself (its look, size, material, ...) and a lot about respectful transition guidance while keeping the place safe and clean. Because cats are such smart fellows! Questions and answers: Q: With Claude Bois’s cat toilet training method, what do I need? A: You will need some cardboard (or any similar product), a litter box, a toilet seat, a cork stopper (or a similar product), and some strong tape. If you can drill holes, you will also need 2 screws, 2 flat o-rings, and a small piece of wood. If you can't drill holes, you can use some more strong tape instead. You will also need a set of three bowls (ceramic, glass, or plastic). Q: What if I only want to train my cat to use a water litter? A: You will need the same as above; note that you will need to drill two holes. Alternatively, you can use a plastic box with a cover; you will need to cut a large hole in the cover with a precision knife (Exacto). Another option, if you are handy, is to make a wooden box with a cover and hinges; you will need to paint or varnish it (with a low COV product). In all cases, you still need three bowls for the training. Q: My cat already has a litter box, do I need to buy a second litter box? A: No, you can simply modify the litter box your cat is currently using. Just make sure you have all that you need ready before you start; it should take you less than an hour to transform it. Also, if you change your mind, the litter box will still be usable as before (i.e. with traditional litter grains or pellets). In the book, I explain all the physical requirements and you get to understand why it is so. As a result, you will probably be able to find in your home, or in a second-hand store, all that you need. Q: What are my real chances of success? A: With only the method presented in videos and other books, or with one of the cat toilet training kits available, I estimate it around one out of five. If you follow my method, you will be able to determine if cat toilet training is appropriate in your situation or if you should go for water litter training only. Given you choose accordingly, I am confident that you have at least four chances out of five to succeed. But, most importantly, you will know how to avoid ending up with an unclean cat. ** To view videos and figure out which book of the collection is best for you, visit PetFriendsFreedom.com > pets > cats > cleanliness. Toxoplasmosis, Cats, Humans, and Nature

Book Description

All cat owners should have at least some basic knowledge about cat toxoplasmosis; a cat zoonosis also referred to as cat litter disease. The protozoan parasite that causes the disease, Toxoplasma Gondii, is a public health issue. It is also an economic and environmental issue. The decisions and behavior of cat owners, with respect to cat care and feeding, cat litter cleaning, and cat litter disposal, can have a positive or negative impact in these respects. Claude Bois studied scientific literature and reviewed the recommendations of health authorities about this widespread cat litter disease. It is important to understand the risk associated with cleaning cat litter, even more so if cleaning cat litter while pregnant. Hence, the book gives lots of information to evaluate whether a cat is contagious or not. You will find practical solutions for safe litter cleaning during contagious periods. You will also learn proper cat litter disposal for environmental conservation. The information is summarized down in a way that is accessible and enables readers to make enlightened decisions about such an important cat litter disease. A word from the author Claude Bois After writing four books on cat litters, cat cleanliness, and cat training, I noticed some false information is circulating about toxoplasmosis and what should or should not be done with cats’ litter and poops. Considering the risk associated with this serious cat litter disease, I was very concerned about doing the right thing for environmental conservation and human health. Hence, I thoroughly investigated this subject. Then I wrote Toxoplasmosis, Cats, Humans, and Nature. ** For more details and discover other books in this collection, visit PetFriendsFreedom.com > pets > cats > cleanliness. Year of No Garbage

Book Description

"Eve’s brave and honest experiment reveals the shocking impact of the throwaway society we’ve become and at the same time showing small ways we can all do better.” —Rebecca Prince-Ruiz, founder of Plastic Free July Year of No Garbage is Super Size Me meets the environmental movement. In this book Eve O. Schaub, humorist and stunt memoirist extraordinaire, tackles her most difficult challenge to date: garbage. Convincing her husband and two daughters to go along with her, Schaub attempts the seemingly impossible: living in the modern world without creating any trash at all. For an entire year. And- as it turns out- during a pandemic. In the process, Schaub learns some startling things: that modern recycling is broken, and single stream recycling is a lie. That flushable wipes aren’t flushable and compostables aren’t compostable. That plastic drives climate change, fosters racism, and is poisoning the environment and our bodies at alarming rates, as microplastics are being found everywhere, from the top of Mount Everest to the placenta of unborn babies. If you’ve ever thought twice about that plastic straw in your drink, you’re gonna want to read this book.

The Zero Waste Solution

Book Description

Waste is something we all make every day but often pay little attention to. That's changing, and model programs around the globe show the many different ways a community can strive for, and achieve, zero-waste status. Scientist-turned-activist Paul Connett, a leading international figure in decades-long battles to fight pollution, has championed efforts to curtail overconsumption and keep industrial toxins out of our air and drinking water and bodies. But he’s best known around the world for leading efforts to help communities deal with their waste in sustainable ways—in other words, to eliminate and reuse waste rather than burn it or stow it away in landfills. In The Zero Waste Solution, Connett profiles the most successful zero-waste initiatives around the world, showing activists, planners, and entrepreneurs how to re-envision their community’s waste-handling process—by consuming less, turning organic waste into compost, recycling, reusing other waste, demanding nonwasteful product design, and creating jobs and bringing community members together in the process. The book also exposes the greenwashing behind renewed efforts to promote waste incinerators as safe, nontoxic energy suppliers, and gives detailed information on how communities can battle incineration projects that, even at their best, emit dangerous particles into the atmosphere, many of which remain unregulated or poorly regulated. An important toolkit for anyone interested in creating sustainable communities, generating secure local jobs, and keeping toxic alternatives at bay.
