Transactions of the Thirty-First Annual Meeting of the Ohio State Medical Society

Book Description

Excerpt from Transactions of the Thirty-First Annual Meeting of the Ohio State Medical Society: Held at Put-in-Bay, June 20th, 21st, and 22d, 1876 Dr. W. W. Jones, of Toledo, the retiring President, called the meeting to order. Prayer was then had by the Rev. Mr. Bowers. Dr. Jones thanked the Society for the courtesy and kindness shown him during his term of office, and hoped the members would be as indulgent in their treatment of his successor as they had been with himself. He then presented the President, Dr. E. Williams, who said, he felt deeply the responsibilities of the position to which the Society had elevated him. He said he had been a member of the Society for twenty years, but had not attended regularly the meetings of the Society; and he thought, therefore, some one else should have been chosen President. But since the members had seen proper to select him for the position, he hoped to be able to keep such order as would conduce mostly to the dispatch of business.
