These sections provide a record of silicified tribobite faunas across the Cambrian-Ordovician boundary in open marine carbonate rocks along the deeper portion of the shelf - a North American palaeogeographic setting not previously extensively sampled for macrofossils.

This report contributes towards a biofacies evaluation of Cambrian-Ordovician boundary bed conodonts and illustrates the probable limitations on a highly resolved conodont-based correlation of this interval between strongly constrasting lithofacies.
