Liturgy and Justice

Book Description

Liturgical celebrations and the work of justice are tightly woven threads of the same cloth. The essays in Liturgy and Justice explore this intrinsic relationship and its promise for the ongoing renewal of church life. The authors write about the vision of the modern liturgical and social reformers, building just communities, reuniting worship and justice, globalization, rural life, church leadership, women in the Church, justice and prayer in Latino and African American communities, liturgy as a school of discipleship, forming catechumens as disciples, the catechesis of liturgy-justice, preparing just liturgies, and preaching justice. Authentic discipleship demands that the already existing relationship between our liturgy and our mission as ministers of justice be lived. Those serving in all areas of church ministry will find this book helpful in striving for justice in the Christian life. Contributors are Gilbert Ostdiek, O.F.M.; Eleanor Josaitis; Msgr. WORSHIPPING IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH

Book Description

The Word of God says, "God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and Truth" (Jn 4:24). To worship in spirit (or in Spirit) is to worship with your heart or human spirit (or to worship according to the Holy Spirit). This is opposed to worshipping in the flesh and according to the senses, as in the Old Testament. And you have to worship in Truth. To worship in Truth is to worship according to the Word of God. When you live in sin and say that you are praising and worshiping God, you are foolish: God has millions (or billions) of angels who worship and praise Him; and there are millions (or billions) of human beings who worship and praise God. If you live in disobedience to the Word of God that you know, even if you sing songs, and worship five hours everyday, you will still end in Hell Fire, unless you repent of your sin(s). Worship in spirit and Truth!

True Worship

Book Description

What is the nature of true worship? What are we actaully doing when we meet together for 'church' on Sundays? And how does that connect with what we do the rest of the week? Vaughan Roberts answers these questions and more, as he brings readers back to the Bible in order to define what worship is and isn't, and what it should and shouldn't be. While we may struggle to define worship by arguing about singing hymns with the organ, versus modern songs with guitars and drums, or about the place of certain spiritual gifts, Roberts suggests we are asking the wrong questions. For true worship is more than this - it is to encompass the whole of life. This book challenges us to worship God every day of the week, with all our heart, mind, soul and strength.

The Way of the Worshipper

Book Description

Connecting with the Spirit of God in worship is fundamental to the life of the believer, and yet, so many Christians never experience the power of the Spirit in worship- and as a result, never experience the natural outflow of the Spirit of God: miracles, healing, restoration, empowerment, strength and so much more. Why? What can we do to make sure that our connection to the Holy Spirit is unbreakable? What role does worship play? For what purposes did God create worship? Where do I fit in? Why don't I feel Him more? If you can't answer each of these questions with confidence, this book is for you. We want to connect with the Spirit of God in worship. More importantly, God wants to connect with YOU. There are tremendous, life-changing benefits to worship in "spirit and truth"- but understanding what that means, how to use worship in all aspects of your life and what the enemy will do to break your connection with God is paramount. If you desire more of God; if you've been standing in faith for revival in your life; if you've been believing for miracles; if you're not sensing His presence in your life or seeing the manifestation of answers in prayer- start here! If the Bible is your sword, worship is your arrow. The Christian life is full of battles and victories, but you have been equipped with *every* weapon you need- now, learn how to use them!

In Spirit and in Truth

Book Description

This book documents the cumulative life's work of God's humble servants Bishop Errol I. Reid and Dr. Alicia E. Reid. The contextual teachings are divinely inspired to lead people seeking spiritual truth to perceive clearer, purer, and unadulterated spiritual underpinnings of select biblical scrolls. Readers will envision divine underpinnings that run far beyond literal interpretations and pretexts of common doctrinal preconditioning. The authors' intent in writing this book is not to create controversies, yet in many instances, this book clashes with prevailing norms of established theological perceptions. It may find contentious and perhaps fierce resistance to wide acceptance, but so did all the divinely appointed and anointed patriarchs, prophets and the apostles, who stuck to the higher mission of the spiritual commission notwithstanding being socially ostracized, through hateful rejection that ultimately led to crude forms of death. The book also boldly treads in unchartered territory in instances, for example, where Jesus challenged Peter (in Luke 5:4) to launch out into the deep and let down his nets for a draught. Here dissected is Peter's reluctance to abandon his comfort zone in order to grasp beyond the veil of his developed expertise, only to find to his astonishment, there was a dimension beyond his carnal experiences where the manifestations of the Holy Spirit dissolve the impossible barriers of human perception, conception, and capabilities. Examples of the spiritual decoding contained in this book include: 1. Readers are guided to an in-depth understanding of how one can find and gain access to the essence of God through a certain interaction, through the quickening manifestations of the Holy Spirit that goes far beyond emotional or passionate appeasement, for then only can one receive the higher virtues that only faith draws from the hem of the divine garment (Luke 8:43""48). 2. Readers are reminded that God's children can never be satisfied, nor can they be fulfilled by merely the physical or carnal-minded level of their existence to serve God (Romans 8:5""8). 3. Readers are informed that one cannot actualize spiritually until one's doctrine is spiritually grounded and that follower encounters, embraces, and engages Holy Spirit manifestations that align one's soul conditioning to the only God-acceptable relationship. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:23""24)

It incorporates sound doctrine and scripture in a time when we have so many "false salvations." This book is engaging, full of depth and practicality, includes prayers to join in with God, and calls us to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. As stated in Chapter 6, "He wants your cup to overflow, and He doesn't mind making a mess," we need to understand our salvation and that living out the Bible is our joy." — Justin Coggins, Executive Director of God's Garage, and Founder of Pure Fire Ministries, GodsGarage.org “The Fullness of Joy That Only Comes With Salvation is such a motivating read! John’s zeal is contagious for activating others into a radical lifestyle pursuing revival. His passion will be imparted through his Revival Fire-Starters series. Worshiping God in Spirit and Truth

Book Description

Worshiping God in Spirit and Truth is a seven-chapter exposition of what worship means biblically and how those who long to worship God in spirit and truth may do so in a way that is unquestionably right. There have always been-and always will be issues surrounding this topic. The life of Jesus is filled with clashes between himself and the guardians of orthodoxy as to what was acceptable and unacceptable in worship. The author believes that when there is a way that is unquestionably acceptable, that is the path a worshiper should take. Of course, the question then arises as to what is unquestionably correct. Some have concluded from Paul's guidance in Romans 14 that the unquestionably correct approach to eating meat, drinking wine, and observing days is summed up in one word: DON'T! And for that person the dictum is DON'T, because "Whatever does not proceed from faith is sin" (Rom14:23). However, to bind one's personal conclusion about the subject violates the entire context of that chapter: 1) Each should be convinced in his own mind (v.5), 2) Why do you judge your brother (vv.3-4, 10, 13), 3) Let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding (v.19), 4) Accept one another as Christ has accepted you (15:7). This book is sent forth in the prayer that it will promote understanding and bring glory to God.
