Book Description
Excerpt from Zinc and Lead Deposits of Northern Arkansas The stage of development of the field is such, that the report is in a sense a preliminary one, as few of the ore bodies have been worked sufficiently to deter mine their extent. There are many openings and prospects and a few producing mines. The examination of the prospects consumed much of the time, and although the information obtained from them was valuable as indicating the position and manner of occurrence of the ore bodies, it was often unsatisfactory because the openings were of limited extent or had been made so long ago that they were covered with debris. Only a few of the mines which have underground workings were accessible, since most of them were idle and filled with water.
