The success of Bioinformatics in recent years has been prompted by research in mole- lar biology and medicine in initiatives like the human genome project. The volume and diversification of data has increased so much that it is very hard if not impossible to analyze it by human experts. The analysis of this growing body of data, intensified by the development of a number of high-throughput experimental techniques that are generating the so called 'omics' data, has prompted for new computational methods. New global approaches, such as Systems Biology, have been emerging replacing the reductionist view that dominated biology research in the last decades, requiring the coordinated efforts of biological researchers with those related to data analysis, mathematical modelling and computer science. Computational methods have been helping in tasks related to knowledge discovery, modelling and optimization tasks. This workshop brings the opportunity to discuss applications of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology exploring the interactions between computer scientists, bio- gists and other scientific researchers. The IWPACBB technical program includes 29 papers (23 long papers and 6 short papers) selected from a submission pool of 51 papers, from 9 different countries. We thank the excellent work of the local organization members and also from the members of the Program Committee for their excellent reviewing work. October 2008 Juan M. Corchado Juan F. The aim of this workshop was to put together the efforts from various fields necessary for understanding neutrino oscillations in detail, from both experimental and theoretical points of view. One of the main experimental issues was to understand the absolute flux of both the atmospheric and the solar neutrinos in order to obtain detailed parameter information on neutrino oscillations. The proceedings contain many discussions on phenomenology and theories about neutrino mass and oscillations. The topics include: solar neutrino oscillations; neutrino mixing and the neutrino mass matrices; the origin of the neutrino masses; long baseline neutrino oscillation experiments; KamLAND and low energy neutrino measurements. Related subjects such as μ-eγ experiments and proton decay are also discussed.

A follow-up of the 1988 Workshop on New Trends in Strong Coupling Gauge Theories, the 1990 Workshop, entitled Strong Coupling Gauge Theories and Beyond, is devoted to discussions on dynamical symmetry breaking and phase structure in various types of strong coupling gauge theories and other theories, their formal aspects and the related models of electroweak symmetry breaking.

Describes the weldability aspects of structural materials used in a wide variety of engineering structures, including steels, stainless steels, Ni-base alloys, and Al-base alloys Welding Metallurgy and Weldability describes weld failure mechanisms associated with either fabrication or service, and failure mechanisms related to microstructure of the weldment. Weldability issues are divided into fabrication and service related failures; early chapters address hot cracking, warm (solid-state) cracking, and cold cracking that occur during initial fabrication, or repair. Guidance on failure analysis is also provided, along with examples of SEM fractography that will aid in determining failure mechanisms. Welding Metallurgy and Weldability examines a number of weldability testing techniques that can be used to quantify susceptibility to various forms of weld cracking. Describes the mechanisms of weldability along with methods to improve weldability Includes an introduction to weldability testing and techniques, including strain-to-fracture and Varestraint tests Chapters are illustrated with practical examples based on 30 plus years of experience in the field Illustrating the weldability aspects of structural materials used in a wide variety of engineering structures, Welding Metallurgy and Weldability provides engineers and students with the information needed to understand the basic concepts of welding metallurgy and to interpret the failures in welded components.
