3D Photography

Book Description

Over the last decade, digital photography has entered the mainstream with inexpensive, miniaturized cameras for consumer use. Digital projection is poised to make a similar breakthrough. In particular, low-cost homemade 3D scanners are now within reach. This book gives beginners the necessary mathematics, software, and practical details to leverage projector-camera systems in their own 3D scanning projects. Featuring an example-driven approach, the text illustrates each new concept using a practical scanner implemented with off-the-shelf parts. It shows how these new approaches are used in rapid prototyping, entertainment, cultural heritage, and web-based applications.

3D Scanning with a Camera

Book Description

Learn how to scan an object and turn the scan into a 3D printed replica using a 3D printing service or a home 3D desktop printer.

3D Scanning with a Camera

Book Description

New consumer-grade 3D sensors make scanning objects easy. And with 3D printers, you can turn those scans into miniature replicas. In this course, Kacie Hultgren guides you through the process of creating a 3D scan that's ready for printing. Kacie shows you how to take photos of your subject and process those images using ReCap and ReMake. She uses the free software Meshmixer to demonstrate how to repair and enhance scans. Then, she takes you through the steps of 3D printing, whether you are using MakerBot to print or ordering from 3D-printing service like Shapeways. Kacie also walks through using Photoshop for full color processing of scans.

Close-Range Photogrammetry and 3D Imaging

Book Description

This is the third edition of the well-known guide to close-range photogrammetry. It provides a thorough presentation of the methods, mathematics, systems and applications which comprise the subject of close-range photogrammetry, which uses accurate imaging techniques to analyse the three-dimensional shape of a wide range of manufactured and natural objects.

Time-of-Flight Cameras

Book Description

Time-of-flight (TOF) cameras provide a depth value at each pixel, from which the 3D structure of the scene can be estimated. This new type of active sensor makes it possible to go beyond traditional 2D image processing, directly to depth-based and 3D scene processing. Many computer vision and graphics applications can benefit from TOF data, including 3D reconstruction, activity and gesture recognition, motion capture and face detection. It is already possible to use multiple TOF cameras, in order to increase the scene coverage, and to combine the depth data with images from several colour cameras. Mixed TOF and colour systems can be used for computational photography, including full 3D scene modelling, as well as for illumination and depth-of-field manipulations. This work is a technical introduction to TOF sensors, from architectural and design issues, to selected image processing and computer vision methods.

Laser Scanner Technology

Book Description

Laser scanning technology plays an important role in the science and engineering arena. The aim of the scanning is usually to create a digital version of the object surface. Multiple scanning is sometimes performed via multiple cameras to obtain all slides of the scene under study. Usually, optical tests are used to elucidate the power of laser scanning technology in the modern industry and in the research laboratories. This book describes the recent contributions reported by laser scanning technology in different areas around the world. The main topics of laser scanning described in this volume include full body scanning, traffic management, 3D survey process, bridge monitoring, tracking of scanning, human sensing, three-dimensional modelling, glacier monitoring and digitizing heritage monuments.

Humpty Dumpty God

Book Description

Ancient man has a very cartoonish, innocent, naive...and almost foolish way of contemplating hell and many of us are finally wise enough to realize where we are. Hell is being given hope and then experience having it being taken away over and over again. Hell is being given love and then watches it go away by every possible creative means under the sun over and over again. Hell is never feeling that you truly belong anywhere, that secret feeling that you have that you doesn’t really belong to this place that you can never get rid of and yet here you are. Hell is living in a world where someone/group/institution/combination/ANYTHING have control over you, you know deep within that you are suppose to be a free agent but in this "place" you are not, you constantly tell yourself this is the way it is but you couldn't really believe it do you... Hell is having the feeling that any time...right about now...something is going to happen and you are going to lose something...everything. The foolish ones wish they could live forever, well I have good news for them, they will, as do all of us. We just don't remember that's all... And on and on it goes... Because the "divine" wishes to live through us...that we may suffer for him that he may experience all that there is to experience...without actually having to be in the shit that we are all in. You may have all the ironically "unconditional love" you ever want from the divine...as long as you continue to do his bidding. You can never die and you can never truly leave...the ONLY REASON you were given the mercy to "get" to forget your past life is so that you are fresh again to experience all that suffering again like it is the first time...everytime... Welcome to Hell. In this book we are going to explore what happened, what led to this.
