IEEE Standards for Local and Metropolitan Area Networks

Book Description

Extensions to the behavior of ISO/IEC 10038 (IEEE 802.1D) media access control Bridges, in order to facilitate interoperability in bridged local area networks comprising CSMA/CD networks interconnected with other types of LAN using MAC Bridges, where the CMSA/CD networks contain a mixture of ISO/IEC 8802-3 and Ethernet V2.0 end stations, are specified.

IEEE Standard for Local and Metropolitan Area Networks

Book Description

Abstract: The MAC service provided by all IEEE 802 MACs along with the Internal Sublayer Service (ISS) that is provided by IEEE 802 MACs to the relay function of a Media Access Control (MAC) Bridge are defined in this standard. Keywords: IEEE 802, IEEE 802.1AC, Internal Sublayer Service, ISS, local area networks, MAC Service, metropolitan area networks.

IEEE Standards for Local and Metropolitan Area Networks

Book Description

Abstract for 802.10e-1993: A method to allow Ethernet V2.0 Media Access Control (MAC) Protocol Data Units (PDUs) to be protected with the Secure Data Exchange (SDE) protocol is provided. Abstract for 802.10f-1993: A set of managed object classes to be used in the management of the Secure Data Exchange(SDE) sublayer and its protocol exchanges is specified.

Information Technology--

Book Description

Extensions to the behavior of ISO/IEC 10038 (IEEE 802.1D) media access control (MAC) Bridges, in order to facilitate interoperability in bridged local area networks (LANs) comprising CSMA/CD networks interconnected with other types of LAN using MAC Bridges, where the CSMA/CD networks contain a mixture of ISO/IEC 8802-3 and Ethernet V2.0 end stations, are specified. Additionally, guidelines are provided for the development of nonstandard 802 protocols, with particular emphasis on conversion of existing Ethernet protocols and the behavior to be expected from a Bridge, for the purpose of avoiding future incompatibilities.

LANS

Book Description

This practical guide to the technology and implementation of local area networks (LANs) using IEEE standards covers manufacturing automation protocol (MAP) and technical office protocol (TOP). Compatibility problems that arise when implementing LANs are discussed, and special attention is given to tools for managing the networks and to bridge and gateway strategies for linking to larger networks.

IEEE Std 802.1t-2001

Book Description

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.1D, 1998 edition is intended to document maintenance items identified in the text of IEEE Std 802.1D, 1998 edition (ISO/IEC 15802-3:1998). The document identifies any proposed changes to the text that have arisen as a consequence of maintenance activity. These are documented in the usual form for amendments to 802 standards; i.e. as an explicit set of editing instructions that, if correctly applied to the text of ISO/IEC 15802-3:1998, will create a corrected document.
