To Break a Covenant

Book Description

Debut voice Alison Ames delivers with a chilling, feminist thriller, perfect for fans of Wilder Girls and Sawkill Girls. Moon Basin has been haunted for as long as anyone can remember. It started when an explosion in the mine killed sixteen people. The disaster made it impossible to live in town, with underground fires spewing ash into the sky. But life in New Basin is just as fraught. The ex-mining town relies on its haunted reputation to bring in tourists, but there’s more truth to the rumors than most are willing to admit, and the mine still has a hold on everyone who lives there. Clem and Nina form a perfect loop—best friends forever, and perhaps something more. Their circle opens up for a strange girl named Lisey with a knack for training crows, and Piper, whose father is fascinated with the mine in a way that’s anything but ordinary. The people of New Basin start experiencing strange phenomena—sleepwalking, night terrors, voices that only they can hear. And no matter how many vans of ghost hunters roll through, nobody can get to the bottom of what’s really going on. Which is why the girls decide to enter the mine themselves.

The Broken Covenant of Calebais

Book Description

Fifty years ago, the covenant of Calebais was destroyed. No one knows how or why such a powerful and well-defended group of wizards could possibly fall. Now the truth behind the tragedy comes to light as you and your friends uncover this mystery. From faerie-inhabited forests to the long-abandoned ruins of a wizardly palace to the inner chambers of a secretive convent, The Broken Covenant of Calebais goes to the roots of roleplaying -- to the early days of fantasy stories -- when realism, romance, mystery, and magic were foremost in mind. This revised edition of The Broken Covenant of Calebais is the third version of the adventure to be published for Ars Magica. Calebais was the first adventure published for the First Edition of the game, and was reworked for Second Edition. Now, to coincide with the release of the game's Fifth Edition, this classic has been revised and expanded once more. Although the plot, setting, and atmosphere remain the same, the text has been almost completely rewritten to integrate this classic adventure into the newest and best version of Ars Magica.

Broken Covenant, Fallen World

Book Description

Broken Covenant, Fallen World THE COVENANT OF WORKS The first of five volumes in the series, Covenants of the Almighty. The purpose of this series is to help ordinary Christians understand God's covenants at an easier reading level than most theology, the reading level of those who speak English as a second language. Collegiate language is minimal, colloquial idiosyncrasies are avoided, and illustrations can be universally understood. Difficult points are explained as simply as possible, sometimes from several approaches for readers who may not quickly grasp spiritual concepts. This series views the divine covenants through the lens of the New Testament, especially through the writings of the apostle Paul. The apostle's comments are taken as divinely inspired commentary explaining the true meaning of the text. Volume One examines the covenant God established with the first man in the Garden of Eden. For centuries this covenant has been described by theologians as a "covenant of works." The Covenant of Works is normally seen as a contrast to the Covenant of Grace that God established through Jesus Christ for man's salvation. Recent debates have questioned these distinctions. This book skips the debate, to avoid putting some readers on the defensive, while making a case for the validity and essential nature of the Covenant of Works. The first part of the book is a "Synopsis of Covenant Theology" for readers who want an overview of the covenants or need to understand how to bring together the details described in later chapters of the series. This is a survey of main points of the covenants within their historical context. The second part of this first volume explains the history, meaning and application of the Covenant of Works, and its importance for a correct understanding of Biblical concepts such as the covenant, the fall of man into sin, the final judgment, redemption, Christ's role as Mediator and Last Adam, and Edenic themes in the promises of the new covenant in Christ Jesus. Other books planned for the series, Covenants of the Almighty: Volume Two: Camp of the Saints. (Release date: July/August 2012) God's Covenant with Abraham promised justification by grace through faith for believers from all nations. A study of the basics of the Covenant of Grace within the Abrahamic Covenant. Important lessons for all pilgrims who walk in the steps of Abraham's faith today. Volume Three: The Lighthouse Kingdom (January 2013) God created the kingdom of Israel for His own glory, to reveal His righteousness to the nations, and to proclaim the future appearance of the Messiah who would bring salvation to all the earth and rule over all nations. Understand the old covenant through the illumination of the apostles, and sit at Moses' feet to ponder mysteries of the Messiah and the kingdom of heaven and gain insights valuable for citizens of heaven's kingdom. Volume Four: Dawn of Heaven's Light (Summer 2013) The way into the kingdom of heaven is opened only through the death and resurrection of the King of heaven. He came from heaven to establish His kingdom in the hearts of believers from every language, tribe, people and nation. After conquering the grave, Christ returned to heaven to serve His kingdom forever as King and High Priest of the new covenant. Volume Five: Heaven's Lamps in the Valley of Sorrows (Early 2014) The close relationship of the lines of covenant and eschatology throughout Biblical history until they come together and find their fulfillment in one man, Jesus Christ.

A Broken Covenant

Book Description

This expose contains startling information on the income and wealth trends of the past twenty years, and their impact on your life. Could you sit back and say nothing if you found clear evidence of activities that were exploiting over 94% of the American people? Neither could professor Rodnesky when he found compelling evidence that more than "uncontrollable market forces" are behind the doubling of the wealth of the top one percent during the same period that the wealth share of most Americans has declined by more than 10%. The September Wisconsin Bookwatch declared, "A Broken Covenant is "must" reading for tax reform activists, governmental tax policy makers, and students of economics and political science".

Broken Covenants

Book Description

Broken Covenants Broken Covenants seeks to highlight the love of God for man and the things the Lord had been doing to bring man back into fellowship with Him since mankind fell from grace because of sin. Sin has corrupted the entire world, and it started when Adam and Eve were deceived by Satan in the garden of Eden. Satan had since that time gained control over the earth from Adam whom God had given this charge. Everything being corrupted by sin, including man, faces the curse of death. Satan having taken control of the earth had access to heaven where he was a continuous accuser of man before God. God is determined to destroy this corrupted earth and Satan with it to get rid of sin altogether, but He is also determined to restore man and save man from His wrath and the destruction to come. God sent a flood to destroy sinful man from the earth, but as man multiplied again in the earth, so did sin. The Lord then chose a people of Israel to be His chosen people. He blessed and prospered them to make the rest of the world be jealous of the God of Israel that they would forsake their gods and seek after the God of Israel. Israel, however, turned to the gods of these nations instead that God had to reject His people. God then sent His own Son Who never sinned, and therefore, death had no control over Him. Having conquered sin and death, Jesus has taken back control of the earth, and the devil is cast out of heaven and have no more access to heaven. Man is therefore restored, but he had to trust in Jesus and what He has done to be redeemed back to God. This is the way of salvation, and God now has accomplished that which was His desire since Adam.
