The Lady's Assistant in Knitting, Netting and Crochet Work, Vol. 3

Book Description

Excerpt from The Lady's Assistant in Knitting, Netting and Crochet Work, Vol. 3: Illustrated by Upwards of Seventy Patterns Few subjects have of late years employed the pens and ingenuity of more persons than that of Knitting, Netting, and Crochet work - whether in advance ment of the art or not, rests with the public to decide. Since the year 1837, when I first published a small work on Fancy Knitting - then quite a novelty, though now so popular, - I have noticed with much pain, that a number of empirical pub lications have, from time to time, made their appearance, some of them under spurious pretensions; and a great portion of the Receipts being garbled spoliations from my various works. I take this opportunity of cautioning the public against those piratical productions, and also of giving this note of warning to Publishers and others, that such pilfering from the works that have cost me so much close study and application, will no longer be passed over with impunity.
