John Willison's 'A Sacramental Directory' is a guide for the congregation of the Church of Scotland on how to observe the Communion-Sabbath. It covers the preparation that congregants should take in the days and hours leading up to the service, the administration of the sacrament itself, and the spiritual benefits of participating in this ritual. Willison's eloquence and piety make this book a significant window into the religious life of his era.
