A Study of the Rare Charmless Hadronic B Decay B 2!a0 +[pi]0 Using the BaBar Detector

Book Description

An upper limit has been extracted, at the 90% C.L, for the rare charmless hadronic B meson decay B ± → a0(980)±[pi]0, where a0(980)± →[eta][pi]± and [eta]→[gamma][gamma] or [eta]→ [pi]+[pi]-[pi]0. The analysis was based on a sample of approximately 340.7 fb-1 of data taken at the (4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- collider at SLAC from May 1999 to August 2006. The sample contains (379.9 ± 4.2) million B$\bar{B}$ pairs.

Charmless Hadronic B Decays at BaBar

Book Description

We present preliminary results of several searches for rare charmless hadronic decays of the B meson using data collected by the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center's PEP-II storage ring. We search for the decays hh−, h+h−h+, h+h−?°, X°h+, and X°K{sub S}°, where h =? or K, and X° =?' or?. In a sample of 8.8 million B{bar B} decays they measure the branching fractions. They calculate upper limits for the modes without a significant signal.

Study of the Rare Charmless Hadronic B Meson Decays B-zero to Phi K-zero and B-zero to K-star-plus Pi-minus

Book Description

This thesis describes the analyses of the rare charmless hadronic B meson decays B° 2!?K° and B° 2!K*?−, using 20.58 fb−1 of e+e− data taken at the?(4S) resonance. The data were taken with the BABAR detector during its first run at the PEP-II asymmetric e+e− collider. Measurements of these modes using a counting technique are presented with the branching fractions?(B° 2!?K°) = (9.3 ± 3.4(stat.) ± 1.1(syst.)) x 10−6 with a significance of 4.9?, and?(B° 2!K*+?−) = (20.8 ± 9.3(stat.) ± 2.1(syst.)) x 10−6 with a significance of 3.0?. For the latter, an upper limit of?(B° 2!K*+?−)

Observation of the Rare Decay B0 --] Ks K /- Pi-

Book Description

We report an analysis of charmless hadronic decays of neutral B mesons to the final state K{sub S}°K{sup ±}[pi]{sup {-+}}, using a data sample of (465 ± 5) x 106 B{bar B} events collected with the BABAR detector at the [Upsilon](4S) resonance. We observe an excess of signal events with a significance of 5.2 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties and measure the branching fraction to be [Beta](B° → K{sub S}°K{sup ±}[pi]{sup {-+}}) = (3.2 {+-} 0.5 {+-} 0.3) x 10−6, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Book Description

We report an analysis of charmless hadronic decays of charged B mesons to the final state K?°?°, using a data sample of 470.9 ± 2.8 million B{bar B} events collected with the BABAR detector at the?(4S) resonance. We observe an excess of signal events with a significance above 10 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties and measure the branching fraction to be?(B+??2192?K+?°?°) = (15.5 ± 1.1 ± 1.6) x 10−6, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.
