New-York Coal Company

Book Description

The 1824/25 report "on the inducements objections to the prosecution of the coal trade" was made by a committee of the New York Coal Company. After a thorough investigation of the Schuylkill coal region the report commented on the excellent quality of the anthracite coal for domestic and manufacturing purposes, canal and other transportation facilities, projections of trade potential, the competitive market, the nature and distribution of the coal in this region, and the probable profits from such an endeavor. Also included in the volume is a copy of the 1824 act to incorporate the New York Coal Company.
