Excerpt from Transactions of the Fifteenth Annual Conference of State and Territorial Health Officers With the United States Public Health Service: Held at Washington, D. C., April 30 and May 1, 1917 Enteric fetch - Cases of enteric fever are made the subject of joint inquiry by the military sanitary officer and the local medical officer of health, and to stimulate such inquiry the Local Government Board semis a query to the local health authorities for information concerning the first notified case of enteric fever in a district, and particularly as to whether the case was in any way related to military occupation. The military sanitary officers keep a special record of enteric fever among soldiers to insure that each case is made the subject of inquiry, to provide material for further inquiry where multiple cases occur, to compare the experience of various military units, and to enable a summary to be prepared of the experience of the army as a whole and of different parts of it.
